This is for you as suddenly a music hits and Beth Phoenix appears as Natalya leaves the winner and both Natalya and Beth just had a confrontation as Natalya rises her title

2 of the top 3 power forwards in the history of the game in Charles Barkley and Malone did not win rings even though Malone played with Stockton who was a top 3 point guard of all time and even though Barkley played with great teams in Phoenix and Houston at the end of his career.

Commentary Team: Jim Ross comes out and hits Michael cole with the bell, busting him open. WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH: Beth Phoenix vs Natalya.
MATCH PROMO: Natalya cuts a promo on RAW about what a joke women's wrestling has become. She calls out Beth, and challenges her to a match at Wrestlemania for the vacated Women's title. This would go down in history as the greatest women's match in the company. The audience gives a standing ovation after the finish.

Let's just say that WWE was really sorry for putting on such a terrible show for all of these years. This PPV was all about the quality of WRESTLING, and only put their top performers on the card. Orlando- He's the best player in the Magic's franchisee history and they were a a mere expansion team before they drafted Shaq and he completely turned them around and changed the whole feel of Orlando, Florida as soon as he was drafted in 1992. Before Shaq they had never even made the playoffs but with Shaq they made it to the NBA Finals and the Eastern Conference Finals.

Los Angeles- He brought the Lakers 3 championships and won 3 Finals MVPs. I know he left LA on bad terms and burned his bridges but you can't take away from what he did on the court. The Lakers were irrelevant in 90's after being the team of the 80's but Shaq came to the Lakers at 24 years old and turned the franchises around in 1997. Shaq is forever in Lakers history. The most dominant players ever during his time in LA. 3 titles, 4 Finals appearances, 5 conference finals, made the playoffs every year and won 50+ games every season (except for the lock out shortened year) in 8 years.

Miami- Was only their for 3 seasons. He also left Miami on bad terms but their franchisee dosen't have a long history and have only retired Tim Hardaway and Alonzo Mourning's jerseys. He changed the franchise. They had no real shot at a championship before Shaq got there and that changed overnight before Shaq even played a game.He won a title with them and changed the whole feel of the team as soon as he got there.
Let's get real here...whether you like Shaq, or not, the FACTS are the FACTS. This is not up for a vote. Shaq was the most dominant player in the NBA, by a mile, from 1998-2005. And knowledgeable fans, whether a Laker fan, or just a basketball fan, would acknowledge that he was the main reason that LA won three-in-a-row from 00-02. Furthermore, he did his share in '04, as well. Had some other players stepped up in the Finals that year, and the Lakers might have added another one.

Throughout history, one thing that always manages to catch my eye is the design theme of each society. I find it very interesting how if you jump from society to society you can see a distinct different in their architectural design. Naturally, when I was flipping through chapters 8-13 I noticed the different architectural designs and decided that I had to comment on the uniqueness of each style of architecture.
Starting with Islamic mosques, the first thing I noticed were the arches. The Islamic used several types of arches. These types included the horseshoe, pointed and muqarnas arch. The muqarnas arch were unique to Islam and builders started using this design more and more as the designs became more beautiful to look at. Mosques were also laid out in several different ways, one of which is called a centrally planned mosque which were influenced by Byzantine churches. This design included large open spaces without support beams capped with a dome overhead. Overall I would have to say Islamic architecture is very pretty, especially when there’s a dome on top. To me it seems like the dome caps off the whole structure based on the The Great Mosque on page 290.
When we move on to architecture of South and Southeast Asian before 1200, we see a total different style compared to the Islamic architecture. At first glance, I was in awe looking at the pictures in the book of these structures, partically the one on page 321 of the East Torana of the Great Stupa at Sanchi. I was most impressed by the attention to detail on the carvings on the gate. Overall South and Southeast Asian architecture is so different and unique compared to any of the other type of architecture I have seen in this book to date. Another great example is the Rajarajeshvara Temple to Shiva on page 335. Just looking at the temple I’m amazed especially when I look at the size of the people entering on the stairs; it just attests to the sure size of the temple. Temples like these usually have a capstone on top. It was also common for architecture from this time to include a dome or towers called shikharas and vimanas.
Chinese and Korean art before 1279 is very interesting. It consists of many different themes depending on what part of asia it was located in. In Indian they had stupas, which were building outwards with massive tops as a top piece. When we move on to architecture from central asia, china, northwestern china and japan we can notice that the new theme is to built upwards. Central asian stupas were build with domes over the top like the stupas in Indian. Watchtoweers in china were build exteremly skinny and tall. Stone pagodas or northewestern china were build with 3 teirs while wooden pagodas of japan were built with many levels.
Japanese architecture before 1392 is absolutely amazing to look at. Phoenix Hall on p. 384 is an great example of this. Its built next to the water with vast openings and huge rooftops. Their design themes were influenced by the early Koreans and Chineses. Usually buildings would be built next to each other to form a complex. Each complex typically included the pagoda, main and lecture hall, bell tower, repository for sutras, dormitory and dining hall. Most of the worshiping would happen in the main hall while the lecture hall was used at study areas. One thing that I read online while researching Japanese architecture was how the Shinto rebuilt building around every 20 years with an exact replica of what was built before. I was curious to why they would do this but found no answers in my additional research. I think it might have been just to keep buildings nice and refreshed although I’m not sure if the time to rebuild the building would be worth the reward.
The architecture of the Americas before 1300 was very different depending on the location. My favorite piece of architecture would be the Temple of the Feathered Serpent on page 401. What I really like about this is the choice of design for the outside. It’s so unique and interesting to look at. Whenever I stare at this piece I always wonder what the designer was thinking about when he chose this design. A big society of the Americas before 1300 was the Mayan. The Mayan built many different structures but they all have a few things in common. Most Maya building consists of steps, their usually very wide and steep. For temples there usually are two chambers inside the buildings, one behind the other.
As far as architecture of ancient Africa there are not many examples in the book. One of the few examples can be found on page 434 which shows the Great Friday Mosque. At first I had to do a double take because I didn’t believe this was real. The whole design with the sticks pointing out of it and all the points on the tops of the walls make this mosque look like something I’d build on the beach.

PHOENIX — The number of deaths among illegal immigrants crossing the Arizona desert from Mexico is soaring so high this month that the medical examiner's office that handles the bodies is using a refrigerated truck to store some of them, the chief examiner said Friday.

The bodies of 40 illegal immigrants have been brought to the office of Pima County Medical Examiner Dr. Bruce Parks since July 1. At that rate, Parks said the deaths could top the single-month record of 68 in July 2005 since his office began tracking them in 2000.

"Right now, at the halfway point of the month, to have so many is just a very bad sign," he said. "It's definitely on course to perhaps be the deadliest month of all time."

From Jan. 1 to July 15, the office has handled the bodies of 134 illegal immigrants, up from 93 at the same time last year and 102 in 2008. In 2007, when the office recorded the highest annual deaths of illegal immigrants, 140 bodies had been taken there through July 15.

Parks said his office, which handles immigrant bodies from three counties, is currently storing roughly 250 bodies and had to start using a refrigerated truck because of the increase in immigrant deaths this month.

He said many of the bodies seem to be coming from the desert southwest of Tucson, where it tends to be hotter than eastern parts of the border or the Tucson metro area.

Authorities believe the high number of deaths are likely due to above-average and unrelenting heat in southern Arizona this month and ongoing tighter border security that pushes immigrants to more remote, rugged and dangerous terrain.

Erik Pytlak, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said Tucson's average nighttime lows in the first 15 days of July are the hottest for that period in recorded history.

If nighttime temperatures don't cool down enough, the human body doesn't get a break from the daytime heat, which has hit 109 degrees in recent days in southern Arizona.

"Instead of having one day of a lot of heat, you have day after day after day, and you have a steady stream of people in the desert — people start succumbing, unfortunately," Pytlak said.

He said if possible thunderstorms materialize over the weekend, that could lower temperatures. But if rain doesn't fall and there's cloud cover, the situation could get worse because clouds hold temperatures up at night, he said.

While the bodies that go the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office don't represent all the deaths on the Arizona border, the Border Patrol also is seeing the effects of the weather.

"It does seem like the heat is really having a pretty significant impact right now," Agent Colleen Agle said.

Agle did not have statistics for July but said agents have been seeing "quite a few" deaths that appear heat-related.

On Thursday, she said the Border Patrol responded to a call from a husband and wife from Mexico who were experiencing difficulties because of the heat. When agents got there, the 25-year-old man had died; his 22-year-old wife survived and will be taken back to Mexico.

"Unfortunately, (agents) just didn't get there in time," she said, adding that finding immigrants in distress is often extremely difficult because of the vast and treacherous terrain. "It's really sad when this happens. Even one death is too many for us."

Deaths among immigrants occur despite public service advertisements warning them of the dangers of the desert, and the efforts of humanitarian groups that man aid stations for immigrants in distress and 20 Border Patrol rescue beacons in remote areas of the desert that immigrants can activate if they need help.

Border Patrol statistics for the entire U.S.-Mexico border show that deaths among illegal immigrants peaked at 492 in fiscal year 2005 and declined every year until last fiscal year, when they rose to 422.

The Border Patrol says the agency rescued nearly 1,300 people last fiscal year.

I am hoping to finance the lap band at the True Results clinic in Phoenix, AZ and I was wondering if you still needed a medically documented history of weight loss programs even if you are going to be paying out of pocket?

I have done the Slim Fast diet and a bit of the Atkins diet, but I never medically documented them. Never accured to me to do so. I am at 226 lbs right at the moment, previously 274 lbs. I have gone up and down for the not-so-better part of 19 years. My health is first, but I'll be a man about it and say that it is slightly cosmetic. I have good blood pressure, good cholesterol is a little down, but not high at all, I can walk alright though for last year or so I have been experiencing some pretty bad knee/calf/ankle pains.
I apologize if I was misunderstood, as I said my health IS my top priority and not the 'cosmetic' part. I have met others who have had the LB and are the same size as me or even smaller.

Anyway, I just wanted that to be said. I do want this procedure for health reasons, not just a little cosmetic. I did forget add that I am one step away from being diabetic and I was told it could be type 2 (don't know if tat is hundred percent true).

Ok, as the question above asks, does my heart suck?
Now let me explain why I ask-

This entire week has been hell for me when I try to sleep.
And its either because of my heart, or some strange thing that is happening inside somewhere.

When I lay down, it never fails to show up!

My heart starts .. vibrating? Fluttering? It feels as if the bottom half beats, and then the top.. then the sides.
Even if I place my hand over the heart, different places of my palm will feel the beat.

Normally, I don't feel my heart beating. I don't know if anybody does. Like as i'm typing this, I don't notice it. And as you read, i'm sure you don't either. So at night, its extremely noticeable and bothering me. Let me add a few more details that may help-

My chest gets cold. Its sorta weird because its summer and I live in Phoenix Arizona where its ALWAYS hot. So for my chest to get cold? Its very noticable to me and annoying. And its the inside cold like after you donate blood and they put the *insert scientific name* back into you and its super cold because its internal. So my chest gets cold-

Twice, my left arm has gone numb. Just an interesting detail i'll add I suppose. Goes numb!

I can feel the "vibrating/fluttering" heart almost through my whole upper chest. Safe to say i'm also shivering at this point. So I can feel the flutter and it makes me shake. So its shivering + a vibrating that i feel. Then add the numb arm to make it a party.

If I get up and walk away- It stops. So thats why I don't think its serious.Or at least, that serious. It is my heart (I assume) afterall, so nothing is NOT serious. It only happens when i'm laying down to sleep. When i wake in the mornings, I check for it and nothing is noticable. All is fine. Its only when I go to sleep.

But if i had it right now, i'd go to the doctor. Since its at night and not constant, i've just brushed it off and dealt with it. I can't sleep when its happening. So I embrace it, lay down, take it until I absolutely can't stay awake anymore. Even if its hours.

Another thing i'd like to add is-
When they ask, "Does your family have a history with heart conditions?"
I don't know what they mean by family! Mom and dads up to their moms? Or does it count uncles and aunts? My old man is the 13th child and the youngest with no heart condition YET- But about 8 of his siblings DO have different heart conditions. We don't know their father- and we dont' know my grandma's parents- So, take that into consideration if it helps.

So, does my heart suck?

I live in Phoenix, AZ. It is the hottest city in the USA, today we had temperatures of 108 F.

I have mostly French ancestry, some of my genes might've been necessary in Europe, but they are useless in Phoenix.

I used to be very hairy like most French guys. Body hair might've been useful in cold weathers for my ancestors, but they can kill someone from heat fainting in 110 degree weathers. Around 4 years ago, I had laser hair removal all over my body: my chest, stomach, legs, butt, back, bikini line.
If hair was meant for survival in cold weather, being hairless is meant for survival in hot weather.

I know France experienced famine during several periods of its History. Maybe that's the reason I used to have a belly impossible to get rid of with both diet and exercise. I've never drunk a beer in my life, I used to always be on a diet, and I've been on a swim team for over 15 years, yet I was never able to get rid of my belly. Maybe that belly was used as emergency nutrients in times of famine, but that's totally unnecessary in America today. When diet and exercise don't work, you got nothing else but liposuction.
Having a belly to store nutrients should be considered as vestigial tail. It's useless, and it's something that shouldn't be on one's body.

Can I use evolution as an excuse for my cosmetic procedures?

Lochy: August of 2008 a new show came to this business named WWETNA Fusion. Now for those who don’t know this was the first ever Fusion show. Now at July 16th 2010 the show still lives on. Fusion was the flagship show for WWETNA Fusion and WWA. Fusion was on every week for exactly one year and then I decided to end WWA. But he's a better player.

Kobe can do everything Michael did, and even a few things Michael couldn't do.

Kobe is just as good a defender. His killer instinct is just as pronounced. He can shoot, finish and explode. And just like Jordan, the more he's pissed off, the more unstoppable he is.

At the very least, Kobe's scoring spree over the last week should put to rest any lingering doubts that he's the best player in the NBA. Yes, better than Steve Nash, who is the best point guard, but not the lethal force that Kobe is. Yes, better than Dwyane Wade, who is certainly closer to the Kobe-Jordan level than LeBron James, but D-Wade's game is not as polished as Kobe's.

Kobe's streak of four straight 50-points-plus games is something none of those players can do, and it's something that hasn't been done since Wilt Chamberlain, who had an NBA-record seven straight 50-point games. Truthfully, Kobe should have tacked another 50 on Golden State on Sunday night.

Of course, the idea that Kobe is better than Jordan -- or even the best player in this league -- is as repugnant to some folks as a rectal exam. Even though Kobe has proven himself under pressure countless times, he gets the A-Rod treatment.

Kobe can't please anyone. And it doesn't help that most people suffer from revisionist history when it comes to Jordan, forgetting that he was just as poor a teammate and a ball hog and that he ran off coach Doug Collins like Kobe ran off Phil Jackson the first time.

In fact, you could argue that Jordan was even worse. Far as we know, Kobe hasn't jacked up any of his teammates the way Jordan punched out Steve Kerr and Will Perdue at practice.

Kobe will never be forgiven for Shaq's departure, but you're delusional if you think Jordan wouldn't have had any ego issues playing alongside a player with Shaq's star power.

The best-player argument shouldn't be determined by personal dislike. But if you want to take it there, fine. Jordan was hardly the ideal husband, but only the tabloids were brave enough to venture into his personal life. And what about those gambling issues? If Jordan's life had been covered like Kobe's, we would have an entirely different opinion of His Airness.

Besides a different level of media scrutiny, there was definitely a difference in the level of competition during Jordan's heyday compared to now.

We ask you to step back and take an objective look. Isn't Kobe the best player in the NBA?
Yesterday's NBA player certainly was more fundamentally sound, but there's no question that today's player is bigger, stronger and faster. When Jordan played, he was a singular force that could not be equaled. Jordan was guarded by the likes of John Starks and Joe Dumars, who were fine players but weren't nearly as skilled or physically imposing as LeBron, D-Wade, Tracy McGrady or even Vince Carter.

The NBA is tougher now.

Kobe, like Michael, is surrounded with mediocre to below-average talent, and Phoenix, Dallas and San Antonio are all better than the Utah, Portland and the Charles Barkley-led Phoenix team that Michael met in the NBA Finals.

Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson and Patrick Ewing will be among the best centers ever, but none of them affected the league the way Shaq and Tim Duncan have. There are two two-time MVPs in Kobe's own conference (Duncan, Nash), which is a problem Jordan never faced during his championship runs. Seven-footers weren't launching 3s back then. Magic Johnson and the Lakers were on a downward spiral, and the Pistons were on their last legs. It was Michael and everyone else. That's not the case for Kobe.

The shame of it is that Kobe might finish his career without a MVP, even though his ability can be compared only to that of Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. All this time we've been looking for a player who is better than Jordan, but most of us can't get beyond whether we like or dislike Kobe as a person to recognize his contributions to the game.

Ultimately the MVP award will go to either Nash or Dirk Nowitzki, who are deserving this season, but neither are as good as Kobe. Dallas and Phoenix are strong enough to make the playoffs without their stars. The Lakers, however, are a lottery team without Kobe.

The Case FOR Aliens:
1. It's a big universe. You never know what kind of things might me creepin' around out there. And, we're talking several billion years for something to evolve.
2. The sheer number of sightings. I think I heard that somewhere in the region of 3 million Americans claim to have been under the probe of an alien abduction. Everyday Joes suddenly find themselves being abducted. We've got credible sources spilling the beans on UFO's and abductions and encounters. We've got mass sightings, like in Phoenix AZ during the 90's.
3. UFO's appear throughout history and even go back to the time of the freaking Sumerians. And while we're on the subject of them, let's not forget the Annunaki theory. That is, humans were created by the "Annunaki" or Sumerian gods that came down from heaven on spaceships and resemble the dreaded "Greys". And that has given rise to the whole "Annunakis are actually God" theory which I sincerely want to believe is all bogus.
4. And going along with ancient topics, you've got things like Stonehenge, the Pyramids, Easter Island, the Baghdad Battery, etc. that can't seemed to be explained by earthly methods.

The Case AGAINST Aliens
1. OK, the big one is right here. If these beings have really been intruding into our bedrooms and buzzing is in UFO's since the dawn of civilized man, then where is the proof? After all these years and countless sightings and abduction claims, you would think that someone would have shot one of the little f*cks or brought down a UFO by now. And I don't mean any of this Roswell/Area 51 bullcrap. I mean a real UFO or corpse on public, populated land with media crews.
2. Alright, if these creatures are so damn technically advanced that they can whip them UFO's into overtime and cruise across intergalactic space, then why are they so behind on biology that they have to carry out those f*cked up genetic and reproductive experiments on humans.
3. And then there's this: What are the odds that life on a completely separate planet evolved to look so similar to human beings. And, while we're talking about evolution, why would they evolve to such a fragile creature like the "Greys".

Alright, there's the argument. Now, the choice is yours!

What do you think Mexican citizen deported several times gets prison time for returning to U.S.?

PHOENIX - Authorities say a man from Chiapas, Mexico has been sentenced to seven years in prison for returning to the U.S. after he was deported several times.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Otoniel Tejeda-Yanez, 32, most recently came across the border on February 10, 2010 after being removed at least five times before.

Border Patrol Agents found him in the desert near San Luis, Arizona.

United States District Judge G. Murray Snow cited Tejeda-Yanez's dangerous criminal history as factors in imposing his sentence, according to a Wednesday news release.

That criminal history includes four immigration-related convictions, two theft convictions and a conviction for second degree robbery stemming from a car-jacking.

The judge said it is the court's duty to protect the public from future criminal behavior.

The five previous re-entries took place in October 1998, March 1999, December 2000, June 2002 and March 2009.

He was sentenced on charges related to "illegal reentry after prior removal of a removed alien."

PHOENIX — Mexico on Tuesday asked a federal court in Arizona to declare the state's new immigration law unconstitutional, arguing that the country's own interests and its citizens' rights are at stake.

Lawyers for Mexico on Tuesday submitted a legal brief in support of one of five lawsuits challenging the law. The law will take effect June 29 unless implementation is blocked by a court.

The law generally requires police investigating another incident or crime to ask people about their immigration status if there's a "reasonable suspicion" they're in the country illegally. It also makes being in Arizona illegally a misdemeanor, and it prohibits seeking day-labor work along the state's streets.

Citing "grave concerns," Mexico said its interest in having predictable, consistent relations with the United States shouldn't be frustrated by one U.S. state.

Mexico also said it has a legitimate interest in defending its citizens' rights and that the law would lead to racial profiling, hinder trade and tourism, and strain the countries' work on combatting drug trafficking and related violence.

"Mexican citizens will be afraid to visit Arizona for work or pleasure out of concern that they will be subject to unlawful police scrutiny and detention," the brief said.

It will be to a U.S. District Court judge to decide whether to accept the brief along with similar ones submitted by various U.S. organizations.

A spokesman for Gov. Jan Brewer did not immediately return a call for comment on Mexico's brief. Brewer, who signed the law on April 23 and changes to it on April 30, has lawyers defending it in court.

Brewer and other supporters of the bill say the law is intended to pressure illegal immigrants to leave the United States. They contend it is a needed response to federal inaction over what they say is a porous border and social problems caused by illegal immigration. They also argue that it has protections against racial profiling.

Mexican officials previously had voiced opposition to the Arizona law, with President Felipe Calderon saying June 8 that the law "opens a Pandora's box of the worst abuses in the history of humanity" by promoting racial profiling and potentially leading to an authoritarian society.

Calderon voiced similar criticism of the law during a May visit to Washington.

U.S. officials have said the Obama administration has serious concerns about the law and may challenge it in court. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton recently went further by saying a lawsuit is planned.

My girlfriend is an illegal immigrant?

My girlfriends father brought her and her family here legally on a vista about 10 years ago. Their visa expired after 6 months, and they never left. My girlfriend was 9 at the time, and did not find out till she was about 14. We had been dating almost 8 months when i finally figured out she was illegal. I live in Phoenix Arizona, and I am personally very much against illegal immigration, and I know sb1070 could potentially affect her. The current situation has actually forced us to separate for the time being. Legally is there anything we can do? I feel horrible for her because in all honesty she is just about as American as you can get. She speaks english fine, knows her history, and loves this country. Unfortunately because of her father she has to live a life without a drivers license, without a real job, without the ability to pay for a full time school schedule, and has to worry about deportation. Can anyone give me advice on how to handle this situation. We have both talked about illegal immigration, and we both agree it's wrong, and not something healthy for this country, but we want to fix this situation, despite her fathers horrible mistakes. We have also talked about the possibility of her returning to her country in south America, and trying to return, but as far as we know it's a 10 year wait, and she already has so much invested in her life here; friends, work, school, me, and her love for this country.
I'm not looking to get married at the moment. I'm not trying to find a loophole either. Is there anything legally that she can do. I'm not willing to throw marriage into this, and besides from what I hear marriage doesn't even fix these issues.

Standing in front of a wall-to-wall mural featuring a who's who of revolutionaries, including Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, and boldly displaying the motto Patria o Muerte, Venceremos!!! (Fatherland or Death, We Shall Overcome!!!), a group of teachers, students, parents and community activists in the Los Angeles Unified School District gathered last month for an unusual field trip — to Arizona, to protest that state's controversial immigration law.

A video posted on YouTube shows LA social studies teacher Jose Lara interviewing teachers and students on May 28 at the headquarters of an organization calling for a Mexican revolution on U.S. soil. Soon after he shot the video, many in the group left for an overnight "freedom ride" to Phoenix to protest what Lara tells the camera is a "racist and outrageous" law.

Four days later, the school board president implored the superintendent of schools to ensure that students in the district be taught that Arizona's law is "un-American" and Jim Crow-like. The law, passed in April, empowers law enforcement officials to question the immigration status of people they think may be in the country illegally.

Lara, who made the video, teaches at the Unified School District's Santee Education Complex with Ron Gochez, another social studies teacher who came under fire last month after he was identified making incendiary remarks in a widely circulated YouTube video that shows him speaking at a 2007 rally for La Raza, a revolutionary group calling for Mexican revolt inside the United States.

In that video, Gochez referred to Americans as "frail, racist, white people, and to California as "stolen, occupied Mexico." The video's posting led to a groundswell of anger and a flood of calls for Gochez's firing, but a school district investigation found him fit to continue teaching history to public school students.
Both Lara and Gochez are active in numerous revolutionary groups, including Union Del Barrio, a La Raza organization that Gochez helped establish across the street from Santee High School.

In the video shot before the trip to Arizona, students, teachers and others are seen gathered at the Union Del Barrio meeting hall and cultural center in Los Angeles, called Centro Cultural Francisco Villa — a nod to one of the leaders of the Mexican Revolution — where wall murals picture revolutionary leaders — including Ho Chi Minh — holding machine guns.

As a casual basketball fan from Detroit, I must profess my admiration of the Phoenix Suns. Steve Nash joining this team has been one of the best moves in NBA history. They are so much fun to watch!! Anyways, the change from Mike D'Antoni to Alvin Gentry didn't change their season outcomes for better or for worse, as the team reached the Western Conference Finals in 2005 and 2010 and lost both years with those two different coaches at helm. So what roster change must be made to get the Suns into the NBA Finals?? Whom must they sign? and let go? Whom should they draft?

Is there still Parity in the NHL?

Since the lockout ended, the NHL implemented a salary cap with the hopes of creating parity between the teams. In the first season following the lockout, the salary cap was set at $39 million and his increased each of the four seasons following, to the point where it stands at $56.8 million. So, over a period of 5 seasons, the salary cap has risen almost 20 million dollars. I understand that the salary cap is equivalent to 75% of league revenues, and increased revenues means increasing the cap, but the issue I have is the salary cap creates parity argument. Granted, I know there was a 7th and 8th seed in the Eastern Conference Finals, but from a long-term franchise standpoint I cannot see any parity in the cap era. To me, it would seem, that there is still a problem of struggling franchises that, despite the current cap system (and shootout/point system for that matter) still struggle. To me, the Salary Cap has increased to the point where any parity that was hoped for is now long gone.

In 2003-2004, Columbus had a payroll of $32.1 million, well below the league average of $44 million. Jump ahead to this season, and the Blue Jackets had a Cap Payroll of $43 mil, once again well below the actual Salary Cap of $56.8 mil. While the Salary Cap has increased by almost $20 million since it has been put in place, the Columbus Blue Jackets have only increased their payroll by $11 million, which is still below the league average from 2003-2004. The franchise has struggled every season, making the playoffs once in their history. While they did make the playoffs last year, they still finished 4th in their division, which could lead some to argue that it was the rest of the West that was weak which allowed the Jackets in.

Looking elsewhere, and the teams that had lower payrolls before the lockout are still struggling post lockout. Phoenix had a payroll of $37.8 mil in 2003-2004, and have made the playoffs once since the salary cap was implemented. Atlanta had a payroll of $27.2 mil in 2003-2004 and have made the playoffs once since the salary cap was put in place. Edmonton had a payroll of $30.8 mil in 2003-2004 and have made the playoffs once since the salary cap was put in place.

I am well aware that there are other examples that strengthen and weaken my argument, however the main point I am making is that the salary cap has risen to the point where the smaller/struggling franchises still cannot compete with everyone else, and that the cap has risen to the point where parity has almost disappeared on a long-term point of view.

CubPower - I agree with what you said, but how do you explain Edmonton. Strong fan base, a great group of prospects (seems like all they ever had is great prospects) and yet they don't spend the same kind of money, and keep missing the playoffs.
Lubers 25 - Edmonton spent money in 2006, the salary cap was $39 million then, and if you calculate their salary from this site Click Here you can pretty much see that they were right up against the cap. Since then, they haven't been able to keep up, and thus the parity is no longer there. Additionally, they haven't made the playoffs since.
As for the Phoenix argument, this was the first time they made the playoffs since the lockout, so once in 5 years to me doesn't seem like parity when you consider that over half the teams in the league make the playoffs. They've had some high draft picks and that hasn't equaled success long-term. Again, my question is long-term parity. Making the playoffs once every five years doesn't seem to me like long-term parity, the salary keeps rising and some teams can't afford to stay competitive anymore.

Im 28 y/o single guy. Just got a promotion but it requires me to move and I have until June 7th to decide between living in these 3 cities. Ill be moving from Phoenix where I have lived all my life. Cost of living, city-life (culture, history, night life etc), safety are my top priorities. I can expect to live there at least 3-5 years if not more so this is no small decision for me.

will celtics or lakers win the championship?

Both teams are playing tremendous basketball and clearly deserve to make it to the finals but right now I give the edge to the Lakers. The Lakers players and fans remember that embarrassing loss 2 years ago so they are definitely going to bring it but what I find most interesting is the match ups.

1.you look at the veteran derrick fisher defending the best point guard in the playoffs in rajon rondo. i think rondo will be able to get his way against fisher simply because he is just too talented but fisher will still be effective as he always is in the playoffs on the offensive end.

2. you then have kevin garnett on pau gasol. garnett had the better of him for the last couple of years but we have seen pau gasol emerge as one of the best and most talented big men in the game. his skill and footwork is remarkable and its going to be interesting whether the aging garnett can do what most big men have failed to do which is limit gasol.

3. kobe is going to be kobe so enough said. i expect lamar to continue to play well of the bench.

4. artest against pierce. I really do not know who has the advantage since they have both won and lost their battles in the past. I remember what pierce did to the Lakers 2 years ago but to be honest I do not see him getting those kind of numbers. Artest came to the Lakers to defend these kind of scorers in the nba finals and he is not going to give pierce an inch to work with. ron artest prides himself on defense and is simply a shut down defender. He was able to limit jason richardson who was playing hot coming into the lakers series and the best scorer in the nba in kevin durant. even though he sometimes makers stupid mistakes he somehow finds a way to make crucial plays whether it be on the offensive or defensive end of the floor. paul pierce is one of the best scorers in the nba but I was very discouraged by his play against lebron james in the cavs series. if pierce could not play well against lebron then how can you expect him to play well against one the best defenders the nba has ever seen. artest is full of confidence after the phoenix series so it will be interesting to see whether it carries on against boston.

5. andrew bynum has to play a lot better if lakers are going to win this series. he is going up against one of the best low post defenders in kendrick perkins. i expect to see the same hard effort perkins always gives against his opponents but bynum needs to be a force on the defensive end of the floor. he needs to use his size and get out on the pick and rolls and also block and disrupt their shots. His presence will make a huge difference for the Lakers and I know he got his knee drained so it will be interesting to watch how hard and long he plays in game 1.

6. I am concerned about the health of Celtics bench because a lot of their key guys are injured and banged up. I am especially concerned about Rasheed Wallace because he has played well for them in the playoffs. boston's bench is clearly more productive than the lakers bench and they need them to give a spark off the bench to have any shot of winning this series.

the reality is whoever plays better defense is going to win this series. its going to be a great series especially because of the history of the 2 teams but I expect the Lakers to win it 6 games. That's just my opinion but I would also like to hear yours.

Rigging up home games against the better team and turning homecourt advantage into "homecourt guarantee" lol. Look at those calls in Game 5 that went the Magics way and the obvious bias that happened in Phoenix for games 3 and 4. They are just doing this to create a hype and get BOTH fanbases involved, thus generating more ticket and merchandise sales. Then when they feel they have met their profit quota, they resume the plan the have a Boston/Lakers rematch.

Some people say if David Stern was rigging up games he would have Lebron in the Finals. Well first of all theres only so much he can do.....if the Cavaliers just get flat out dominated theres not really anything the refs can do.....especially when the Cavs are getting blown out at home with the worst playoffs loss in history, ect. Besides, since when has there ever been a more watched series than the Celtics vs. Lakers? I say Boston still has more fans than the Lebron Bandwagon does.

Last Friday, TWA presented you with Extreme Rules, where it was everything goes. There were some great matches, but here is what happened on Velocity's part of the show. The Revolution X beat the team of the Hart Dynasty and Kane , to get a title shot at Night of Champions. Natalya also beat Beth Phoenix to regain her TWA Womens Championship. Shawn Michaels beat the Miz. And CM Punk successfully defended his TWA World Title against Christian and Kurt Angle in a No Holds Barred match. Also, last week on Velocity, Sabu beat 3 other superstars to become the new number one contender for the Hardcore title this week. Lets get on with the show!

Punk: Now I would just like to say... I TOLLLLD YOU SOOOO!!!!! You see, I don't really care what you guys say, I am still the only straight edged champion in TWA history! And to be honest, I was the best champion to walk into Extreme Rules, as I was the only champion who retained. So technically, I am better than Edge, and I am also better than The Rock. Now isn't that something. So, to all you people who were rooting for Angle or Christian, and believe in happy endings, you all should just grow up!

(The Match goes on for about 20 minutes, as Shawn Michaels is the first to be eliminated after an Angle Slam by Kurt Angle. About 3 minutes later, Christian is then eliminated by Batista after a hard Batista bomb. The match then goes on for another 5 minutes, as in the end, Kurt Angle reversed the Batista bomb into an Angle slam to get the victory. After the match though, CM Punk and Luke Gallows started attacking the new number one contender, Kurt Angle. Punk then hit Angle with the GTS, as the show ends

Robert Horry is the GOAT

If winning is your criteria, then how can it not be Horry? His teams (if you take out the lockout season and take the average of Phoenix's and LA's records in the 96-97 season) is 56 games per year.

Jordan, the "consensus" GOAT only averaged 49! If you value winning, how can any sane fan say Jordan > Horry?


Not only that, but he has 7 rings. 7 > 6 all day long. He's won more than Michael Jordan, Magic and Bird. And that's not the catch...

He did it with THREE teams! He won titles under Rudy Tomjanovic in Houston, in the triangle with Phil Jackson and under the strict stewardship of Gregg Popovich. He helped Hakeem become a champion, then when he got bored of winning in Houston...he went out west to LA and taught Shaq and Kobe how to be winners. What did they win before Horry? NOTHING. Shaq owes his status as one of the greatest players in history to what Horry taught him. And just when people said Horry was past his prime and couldn't do it anymore, he goes to San Anton and delivers a couple more rings to Tim Duncan.

Nobody's done that. And Horry's played more playoff games than anybody in history. He played more playoff games in 16 seasons than Kareem did in 20. Now that's experience. Again, 7 titles in 16 seasons beats 6 titles in 20 any day of the week.

That's winning basketball. 7 titles under 3 different coaches, 3 different "systems" and helping Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe and Duncan become champions. That means he helped shape 4 of the top 10-12 players in history. Who else has the kind of resume?
